Meet Shamiana
Hi, I’m Shamiana and I have my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. I have considerable clinical experience in intimate partner violence (IPV) and sexual assault (SA) crisis intervention and advocacy, as well as research experience in a wide breadth of psychological areas–attachment, emotion, trauma, memory formation processes, and cognitive-neuroscience. I am currently pursuing my PhD in Counseling Psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (my #1 program), and hope to continue working with IPV/SA survivors as a feminist researcher and clinician following graduate school. I am passionate about leveraging my experiences to help students from diverse backgrounds succeed in their journeys to the PhD.
In my free time, I love going to concerts with my partner and spending time at home with my lazy greyhound and my grumpy cat, and embrace my inner Pisces by learning new crafts and reading fictional romance novels. I’m also highly intuitive, which lends itself well to how analytical I am despite being a Pisces!
